Dylan Ferrandis clinched second place in the first MX2 Grand Prix of the season, which was held at Losail in Qatar.
Author of the pole position Saturday for testing, Dylan did not know what to expect in this first GP, insofar as the Monster Energy Kawasaki team continues to work intensively to develop the bike. Arriving in Qatar with only one race under his belt since the beginning of the season, Dylan hadn’t attend the starting gate of a GP since Spain last year! But both pilot and bike are already very efficient, and Dylan who had worked a lot physically this winter, was the only one to rival Herlings this weekend. Second of the qualifying round and second of both motos, he also signed the holeshot in the second start. He should be even stronger next weekend in Thailand, since this week Dylan and the team will continue testing in France.
Dylan Ferrandis: “I was not necessarily hoping to do so well, even though I have the speed, to the extent we are still in testing phase. Last weekend in Lacapelle I was not happy with the bike, but everyone in the team has worked like crazy before coming here and this podium is a nice reward for everybody! We continued to improve the setting of the bike throughout the weekend and we saw the result on the track. This one was dangerous in some places, and in the first race I suffered a bit of arm pump. I finished second in the second race. I had the best start but Jeffrey passed me; He took risks, I did not want to make any mistake. I return to France between the GPs, we still have more testing to be done on the suspensions to prepare Thailand.”
